Jurek joined the Midland Fire Department as a firefighter in 2004 and was promoted to fire truck operator in 2014 and lieutenant in 2021.
The fire marshal performs annual fire safety inspections on commercial and general assembly occupancies reviews plans for new construction and remodeling projects with attention to fire safety completes building inspections and fire systems tests on new and remodeled construction projects and works to educate the public on fire safety and fire prevention initiatives. Septem– The City of Midland is pleased to announce that John Jurek has been promoted fire marshal of the Midland Fire Department (MFD) effective August 29, 2022.
